DEER CREEK FARM
THORNTON, NH
(603) 236-1571

---

Greetings,

I am Heidi Hawkensen Uhlman, and I have dedicated my entire life to equestrian pursuits. Horses served as a significant outlet during my adolescence, particularly when I was 13 years old, which enabled me to participate in over 10 sanctioned dressage shows and horse trials each summer, establishing a foundational lifestyle for me. Furthermore, I was an accomplished competitive Alpine ski racer during the winter months, adhering to a similarly rigorous schedule throughout my formative years until I graduated from Plymouth State College. At the age of 25, I transitioned to riding full-time year-round, primarily competing in regions such as North Carolina, Florida, and Kentucky. I met my husband in 1997, and we were united in marriage in 2003 in Thornton, NH, where we are raising our daughter, Paige.

### Education
- New Hampton School, Graduated 1991
- Bachelor of Science from Plymouth State University in Physical Education, concentrating on Fitness and Rehabilitation, with a minor in Health, 1997
- Fall 1996: Completed 260 hours assisting as an Athletic Trainer for the men's wrestling team
- Spring 1996: Accumulated 540 hours as an Athletic Trainer for the men's baseball team
- 1998: Engaged in graduate-level coursework in Orthopedic Assessment

### Experience with Horses
- 1987-1991: Working Student under FEI Dressage Instructor Janice S. Conlon
- 1991-1998: Student/Client with FEI Eventer Nancy Guyotte
- 1998-2005: District Commissioner of the local Pony Club and Instructor
- 1999: Working student in Florida at an FEI Dressage Center under Michael Poulin, former Bronze Medalist at the Barcelona Olympics
- 2000-2001: Working student of FEI Denny Emerson
- 2003: Pursued studies in Natural Horsemanship under Pat Parelli, successfully completing Level One and Two
- 1998: Served as Private Instructor at what is now known as Deer Creek Farm, LLC,
- Organized and participated in several clinics conducted by Kathleen Lindley Beckham
- 2017: Appointed Grafton County 4-H Leader for Equine Horse Management

Throughout my career, I have emphasized Eventing as the foundation of my horsemanship; however, I contend that every discipline contributes valuable components to a well-rounded equestrian education. I particularly appreciate Eventing for the harmonious balance it affords between riding proficiency and effective horse management. I believe it is imperative for students to cultivate both their riding skills and a comprehensive understanding of their equine partners.
